Our Anthracite Filter Media is triple screened and washed to insure perfect sizes suitable for filtration purposes.
Being 96% Carbon (based on Moisture-Ash Free Analysis) and insoluble, is tasteless and odorless. Its neutrality is very advantageous in hot alkaline adaptations or in acid solutions. It cannot impart taste or odor to water passing through it.
Our Carbonite is angular or irregular in shape with slightly varying specific gravities. It is very light in weight being approximately 52 pounds per cubic foot. Carbonite requires approximately 38.5 cubic feet to contain one ton and has an average specific gravity of 1.6. It is equal to sand in toughness and is completely insoluble in both acid and alkaline solutions. It is produced in 6 basic sizes which compare favorably with filtration sand and gravel. However, any of the 6 sizes can be modified to suit a particular installation.
Carbonite Anthracite Filter Media is scrupulously selected from one particular Anthracite vein which yields the highest percentage of Carbon. It is then hydraulically classified to reduce mineral matter and ash to a minimum.more details→
